Product recalls: Gas pool heaters, baby spoons, reciprocating saws

Gas pool heaters

Pentair is recalling about 105,000 MiniMax NT STD gas pool heaters manufactured by Water Pool and Spa Inc. The pool heaters can emit excessive carbon monoxide.

The recall involves Pentair MiniMax NT STD gas pool heaters installed indoors. They have BTU ratings between 200,000 and 400,000, and use either natural gas or propane. The model number is located on the rating plate on the inner front panel of the heater. The following model numbers are included: 460427 through 460430; 460439 through 460450; 460531 through 460538; and 460543 through 460566.

The heater identification number is located on the rating plate on the inner panel of the heater, which will show "NT" and "STD" in the third and fourth blocks of the number. The recall includes units with serial numbers 0606002 and lower. The recall also includes units without serial numbers. If the unit has a serial number, it is written on the data plate on the heater, which is located on the inner front door of the heater. Units with serial number 0606003 and higher are not included in this recall.

Pool heater distributors and pool service equipment dealers sold the heaters from April 2002 through May 2006 for between $2,000 and $3,850 depending on the model number.

Consumers should contact Pentair to determine if their heater is included in the recall. If it is, Pentair will provide a free inspection, and repair of the heater if necessary.

Feeding spoons

BabySwede LLC is recalling about 33,000 BABYBJORN feeding spoons. After extended use, the soft plastic tip on the feeding spoon can loosen and break off, posing a choking hazard to young children.

The recalled feeding spoons were sold under the brand name "BABYBJORN," which is printed along the front side of the spoon's handle. The spoons were sold in one package containing two spoons. The spoons are about 6 1/2-inches in length, with a soft, flexible plastic tip sold in two color combinations: blue/red or green/yellow.

The spoons were sold by specialty juvenile product stores, in catalogs and through Internet sites from January 2001 through November 2006 for about $9.

Reciprocating saws

Dewalt Industrial Tool Co. is recalling about 44,000 DC305 model reciprocating saws. The switch on these saws can short circuit, posing a fire hazard.

This recall involves cordless Dewalt DC305 model reciprocating saws with date codes 200601-49 through 200640-49. They are yellow and black and about 18 inches long. The model number is located on the name plate on the side of the housing and the date code is located under the handle where the battery is inserted.

Home centers and hardware stores sold the saws from May through November for between $380 and $800.
