Dick Hoak, who spent 45 years as a Steelers player and an assistant coach, will retire on Tuesday.
Hoak, 67, was a running back with the Steelers from 1961 through 1970. Chuck Noll hired him to coach his running backs in 1971 and he has remained in that job ever since. He was the only coach from Noll's staff that Bill Cowher kept when he became the new Steelers coach in 1992.
Hoak, a native of Jeannette, played quarterback and running back at Penn State.
