City Council declared Monday Becky Mingo Day to recognize the community advocacy work of Friendship Development Associates' former executive director.

Ms. Mingo, who continues to work on development for the Friendship group, led the group for 11 years, when an arts-initiative partnership with Bloomfield-Garfield Corp. attracted $6.4 million in investment to Penn Avenue.

She is also credited with helping to leverage more than $15 million in homeowner investment.
