Bethel Park High School junior Steve Miller auditioned and will play the trombone in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association's District Jazz Band Concert Saturday at Chartiers Valley High School.
He was selected to play in the PMEA Honors Band Concert this year.
His teacher is Bethel Park band director David Buetzow.
Emily Ecoff, a Bethel Park High School graduate now at Saint Vincent College, has been voted First Team All-District in the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America competition.
She leads the Lady Bearcat volleyball squad with an average of 4.45 digs per game, while adding 3.16 kills and 43 service aces.
She was honored this month with a Coaches Award by the Presidents' Athletic Conference, which is the equivalent of an all-conference selection for provisional NCAA schools.
A group of Neil Armstrong Middle School sixth-graders finished in third place at the CalcuSolve Competition held Nov. 17 at Duquesne University.
The team included Kyle Barron, Emilee Betz, Kevin Fleischman and Kaitlyn Wagner.
They competed against teams from 57 schools on a 10-question problem-solving test that required them to use high-level math skills.
