The Good, the Bad and the Beautiful
Borat as home wrecker, and Cameron the commitment-phobe
Tuesday, November 28, 2006
Give us a minute, we're still getting over the shock of Pam and Kid's four months of wedded bliss coming to an end.

Wow, if those two can't make it, who can?

We're sure there's a life lesson to learn from all of this. While we figure it out, you take solace in this installment of the GBB.

Former SNL player and current "30 Rock" star Tracy Morgan was arrested Monday night in NYC for drunk driving.

Cops stopped Tracy in the Bronx around 4:38 a.m.

It's Mr. Morgan's second DUI. He's on probation in Los Angeles for a conviction there.

No word on whether he went off on a racist rant that he could later blame on alcohol.

Apparently the aforementioned Kid Rock was not a fan of his wife's role in "Borat" and his reaction might have been the last straw for Pamela Anderson.

Page Six reports that Universal Studio head Ron Meyer had a screening of the hit film at his home two weeks ago. In the movie, Sasha Baron Cohen as the title character falls for Pam and comes to the United States to propose to her.

Kid and Pam were among those at the screening. But after the film, Pam's hubby was not amused and started screaming at her and calling her some very nasty names in front of the other attendees, according to a friend of Pam.

Well, the good thing is they don't have any kids together, presumably Kid has his own money, and Pam hasn't made Paris Hilton her best friend.

Every time a couple files for divorce, another couple becomes engaged. Kind of like bells and angels in "It's a Wonderful Life."

Anyway, the latest twosome to betroth themselves is reality TV producer Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, formerly of "Touched by an Angel."

People reports that Mark, 46, got down on his knee and proposed to Roma, also 46, on a moonlit beach in Mexico over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Her daughter, Reilly, 10, from a previous marriage and his children, James, 13, and Cameron, 9, also from a previous marriage, were present during the proposal.

No word if Roma's former co-star Della Reese will perform the ceremony.

Since we're on the subject of marriage, we're wondering along with Page Six if Owen Wilson was looking for an engagement ring for a certain someone during a recent trip to the Harry Winston store in Dallas last week.

A witness said Mr. Butterscotch was looking at a huge, pear-shaped, flawless diamond engagement ring.

While a rep for Owen confirmed the trip, the rep said Owen's mom was with him, looking for jewelry for herself.

It's just as well.

Kate Hudson, Owen's rumored paramour, isn't even divorced yet from rocker Chris Robinson.

Cameron Diaz has no interest in marrying Justin Timberlake.

Cam let everyone know she's a commitment-phobe on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," which aired Tuesday.

Besides after four years with Justin, Ms. Diaz asked if that's kind of like being married.

Ellen said, "Yeah, kind of, without the tax benefits."

Hopefully, Hershey native U.S. Navy Lt. Andy Baldwin, M.D. is looking for more than tax benefits when he stars in the upcoming "The Bachelor" set to air this spring on ABC.

Dr. Andy is an undersea medical officer for a special operations dive unit stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

He was valedictorian in high school and a competitive swimmer and ESPN's National Scholar Athlete of the Year in 1995. He worked three jobs in high school to make money for college.

Hey, Andy maybe you should consider a more mature woman. The young hot-bodied babes they'll set you up with on the show can be so overrated.

Let's step off the marriage merry-go-round and step into some other news:

Cedric the Entertainer has just signed a talent holding deal with ABC and sibling studio Touchstone, reports "Variety."

He's already putting together a half-hour comedy for ABC. It's going to be written and produced by Larry Wilmore, the guy who brought "Bernie Mac" to TV audiences.

In the upcoming sitcom, Ced would play a single father of three juggling his home life and his job as a security chief at LAX.

You know the funny man had a sketch comedy show on Fox called "Cedric the Entertainer Presents" back in 2002-2003 season.

We caught it on DVD and that was some funny stuff. Compared to some of the other mess they keep on TV, that show should still be running.

Tony winner Anika Noni Rose, who can be seen in the fabulous "Dreamgirls" movie, has just been cast opposite Debra Messing in a USA Network miniseries "The Starter Wife."

You know it's based on that book by Gigi Levangie Grazer about a woman who has to find herself after her long marriage to a Hollywood studio chief ends in divorce.

Production on the six-hour miniseries is set to begin soon in Australia.

Yesterday, African-American leaders, including the Rev. Jesse Jackson and Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., called for a ban on the N-word.

Fueled by the Michael Richards rant, they say the're going to talk to folks in the entertainment industry about removing the word from their repertoires.

They've even got the legendary comedian/writer Paul Mooney on board.

Paul, who was friends and wrote for Richard Pryor as well as "Sandford & Son" and other sit-coms, couldn't brush his teeth without uttering the incendiary word. It was a real BIG part of his act.

But now, thanks to Michael's racist rant, even Paul has seen the light.

"He's my Doctor Phil," Paul said. "He's cured me."
