The Clairton Bears football team (13-0) earned a 16-13 win against Rochester (12-1) in the WPIAL Class A football championship today at Heinz Field.

The Bears overcame a 13-8 halftime deficit to win their first title since 1989, and the victory was redemption for a loss Clairton sustained against Rochester in the 2004 WPIAL title game.

Leroy George, Clairton's quarterback, hit Kevin Weatherspoon with a 22-yard touchdown with 9:43 remaining for the decisive points.

Derek Moye, Rochester's standout running back/receiver, scored in the first half on an 80-yard touchdown catch and a fumble recovery in the end zone.

Clairton running back Zaire Washington had a 2-yard touchdown run for the Bears in the first half.
