Little Diddies: what to buy; TomKat gets shy, and Britney's not amused
Friday, November 24, 2006
OK, get out of the refrigerator. You know you ate enough yesterday to carry you for a couple of days.

You should be out shopping, because everybody knows Black Friday shopping burns as many calories as an hour on the treadmill.

By the time you've stood in line for three hours for the store to open up, yelled at folks trying to cut the line, pushed and shoved your way to the plasma TVs, video games, mp3 players and that $5 rice cooker, then stood in the checkout for 90 minutes, you are ready for a triathlon.

'Tis the season. So you go ahead, baby -- work that plastic (but not too much). And then read this edition of the GBB.

Since you're doing your holiday shopping you might want to pick up a baby shower gift for Diddy, right.

It doesn't matter that you weren't invited to the shower held for him and perennial girlfriend/babies' momma, Kim Porter. They're registered.

By now you must know that Diddy, a k a Sean Combs, and Kim are expecting twin girls. He has a child, Justin, with Kim and another son, Christian, with an ex-girlfriend.

Anyway, here's some stuff the couple received at the lavish "Little Miss Diddy's Pretty in Pink" baby shower.

Denzel Washington gave them a Ga Ga Designs chandelier; LL Cool J brought two cream-colored cribs; and Jay-Z sent a custom-made changing table, reports People.

The one thing they're registered for that they haven't received yet is an $88,000 R-class Mercedes Benz.

Now you know what to get.

Diddy has already said he's not ready to jump the broom yet, but we know the A-list couple that has -- Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes -- are honeymooning in Maldives. And the folks there would like them to just wave or something.

A government spokesman has confirmed that the couple is on a yacht near the capital of Male.

"People would really love to meet them, show their culture and say 'hello' at least," said Mohamed Hussain Shareef.

No word on whether that's going to happen, since Tom doesn't have a movie to promote right now.

The Maldives, an archipelago of 1,192 islands, is known for its beaches and resorts.

Can there be a celebrity gossip column without at least one mention of Britney Spears?

Well, not today.

Seems Britney was not happy with ABC, which let American Music Awards host Jimmy Kimmel carry out a skit skewering her soon-to-be-ex, Kevin Federline.

Jimmy took a Fed-Ex look-alike, placed him in a crate and floated him out to sea right before he introduced Britney as a presenter.

At first folks thought she'd gone along with it, but her people let it be known that the comeback princess was totally upset by the skit.

Speaking of the AMAs, John Mayer was asked about his relationship with Jessica Simpson while he was doing the red carpet thing.

To tell you the truth, we're just as confused about these two now as we were before he tried to clear things up.

Jess and John were rumored to be dating and were all over the tabs and celebrity mags. Then John told folks "don't believe the hype," and Jessica said they never dated.

But just the other day, John had this to say about whether he and the former Mrs. Lachey had a thing going on:

"I don't know, man. I'm having a good time. I'm being good to the people that are good to me, which is difficult in this town. I'm not trying to mess with anybody's mind. I didn't wake up one day and say, 'I'm tired of being me, let me go be somebody else.' I still feel more me than ever. I love to play music, and I'm having a lot of fun in my life."

That tells us nothing, but sources close to the two entertainers say they're flirting, kind of enjoying each other's company, seeing where things go.

OK. That clears everything up.

Tawny Kitaen, whose claim to fame is a co-starring role in a 20-year-old movie and beating up her husband, has been charged with felony drug possession.

Sheriff's deputies in Orange County, Calif., found 15 grams of cocaine in her apartment back in May when they responded to a request for a welfare check on the family. Tawny's two children were home at the time.

You might remember Tawny from the 1984 film "Bachelor Party," which also starred Tom Hanks. We think it's fair to say he's done a little bit better than Tawny.

Anyway, she was also in the news in 2002 for attacking her then-husband, former Angels pitcher Chuck Finley. He was playing for the Cleveland Indians at the time.

Back then the troubled actress agreed to get anger management in exchange for dropping two counts of spousal abuse.
