Woodland Hills graduate Chris Morgan, a senior tailback at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Offensive Player of the Year in football.

Morgan was also named to the Western Division all-conference team for the third consecutive year, and second time on the first team.

Morgan rushed for 1,318 yards this season, the sixth highest single-season total in school history, and his average of 131.8 yards per game ranked second in the PSAC and ninth in the nation.

Morgan scored 15 touchdowns, including one through the air, to place 12th in the country in scoring at 9.0 points per game.

A Harlon Hill Trophy Northeast Region finalist, Morgan rushed for more than 100 yards in eight of 10 games and broke his own IUP single game record with 286 yards against East Stroudsburg.

He eclipsed the century mark in 22 of 28 games as IUP's starting tailback over the past four seasons.

Although he started his IUP career as a free safety in 2003, Morgan still finished as the second leading rusher in school history with 3,817 yards while also ranking second in rushing touchdowns (34) and attempts (680), fourth in total touchdowns scored (36) and sixth in scoring (216).

Morgan's IUP teammate Rob Plowman, a sophomore linebacker who graduated from Kiski Area High School, was also a first-team selection.

Plowman had nine sacks on the year and was first in the PSAC and tied for 13th nationally with an average of 0.9 per game. He also placed seventh in the conference with 1.50 tackles for loss per contest.

Meanwhile, two other players hailing from PG East area schools also were honored by the PSAC. Peabody graduate Andre Turner and Woodland Hills grad Rafael Smith were second-team selections.

Turner, a senior linebacker at Mansfield University, was voted to the second team for the fourth consecutive year. It's also the final year for Mansfield's football program.

Smith, a senior linebacker at Lock Haven University, was voted to the second team for the third year in a row. Smith had 37 catches for 516 yards and five touchdowns.

Just call them PAC men

Two graduates of PG East area high schools were voted to the Presidents' Athletic Conference all-star football team.

Chris Hickey, a senior offensive lineman from Greensburg Salem, was a first-team selection.

Matt Sutphen, a senior defensive lineman from Central Catholic, was a second-team choice.
