Elizabeth Forward graduates Ryan Abels and Aaron Davis were voted to the fist team of the Presidents' Athletic Conference all-star football team.

Abels, a senior tailback at Waynesburg College, is a four-time first-team all-conference selection. He finished second in the PAC with 852 rushing yards on 183 attempts and 11 touchdowns, and finished his career with 3,985 yards and 45 touchdowns, both school records.

Davis is a junior tight end/halfback at Waynesburg who caught 14 passes, while serving as Abels' lead blocker.

Three other area players -- all players at Washington & Jefferson College -- were also voted to the first team. They are Ryan Mendel, Dan Brodland and Nick Cherish.

Mendel, a senior running back from Brentwood High School, led the conference in rushing with 1,269 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also led the conference in all-purpose yards with 1,553.

Brodland, a senior defensive lineman from Upper St. Clair, led the conference with 8.5 sacks and finished second on the team with 10 tackles for a loss.

Cherish, a senior defensive back from Thomas Jefferson, earned his second first-team honor.

He tied for the league lead with five interceptions, moving him into fourth place on the school's career list with 14. He was credited with 47 tackles.
