Here are some of the activities going on in South to mark Saturday's observance of Veterans Day.
Peters -- The Catholic Cemeteries Association of the Diocese of Pittsburgh will dedicate a new, reserved section of Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Peters for the burial of veterans and their families.
The dedication will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the new section, about one mile south of Boyce Road on Route 19. To reach the dedication site, follow the main driveway to the large tent behind the administration office.
Named after the warrior angel St. Michael the Archangel, the new section consists of 2,050 in-ground burial sites and accommodations for those who choose cremation.
The theme of the memorial is Faith, Country and Family, expressed on an imposing 40-foot-long solid black granite wall honoring veterans of all conflicts. It includes etchings of scenes from major conflicts and contains a roll of honor on which names of deceased veterans can be permanently inscribed.

A lunch will follow.
West Mifflin -- The high school's Air Force JROTC will host a Veterans Day Ceremony in the auditorium at 91 Commonwealth Ave. at 9 a.m., this morning. All veterans and community members are invited to attend. The ceremony will include performances by the AFJROTC color guard, saber and rifle drill teams, the High School show choir, and the Titan Marching Band.
