Wednesday: Macy's Downtown hosts "Very Merry Evening" from 6 to 10 p.m. to benefit local nonprofit organizations. The charities will sell tickets to the event for $10 and keep all proceeds. Tickets sold at the door will benefit Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Tickets entitle shoppers to special discounts and fashion show presentations. There will be live holiday music, refreshments and demonstrations on cooking and holiday decorating. A $1,000 shopping spree will be given away.
Thursday: "Hair Extravaganza: Hair Show," a fund-raiser presented by Cosmetology Academy students at Westinghouse High School, is from 6 to 8 p.m. at the school at 1101 N. Murtland Ave., Homewood. Event includes a dance performance and a hair-braiding and quick-weave competition judged by local salon owners. Tickets are $3 in advance at 412-665-3976. Admission is $6 at the door. Proceeds benefit academy students attending the annual Bronner Brothers Hair Show in Baltimore, Md.
Thursday: Grand opening of Pittsburgh's first Stein Mart store in McIntyre Square, Ross, at 10 a.m. The store has name-brand fashions, home furnishings and gifts at discounted prices.
Saturday and Sunday: Urban Decay international makeup artist Eric Jimenez will appear with a team of international makeup artists for the cosmetics brand's 10th anniversary celebration at Ulta at Plaza at the Pointe, Robinson.
