Army Sgt. Vitaliy Plokhovskyy has returned to the United States after being deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and was decorated with the Army Commendation Medal.

The medal is awarded to those who, while serving in any capacity with the Army, have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism, meritorious achievement or meritorious service.

In Iraq, Mr. Plokhovskyy served as a member of the Fires Brigade, 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Camp Liberty. He is a unit supply specialist regularly assigned to Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas.

He is the son of Valeriy Plokhovskyy, of Mt. Lebanon.

Brian C. Hahn has graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader's Training Course at Fort Knox, Ky.

The 28-day course is a leadership internship for cadets who are normally between their sophomore and junior college years.

Mr. Hahn is a student at Valley Forge Military College and the son of Robert F. and Deborah Hahn, of Peters.

Andrew R. Murphy has graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader's Training Course at Fort Knox, Ky.

Mr. Murphy, a student at Valley Forge Military College, is the son of Donald W. and Shelly J. Murphy, of Peters, and a 2006 graduate of Peters Township High School.
