The Penguins today recalled defenseman Noah Welch from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, their top minor league affiliate, general manager Ray Shero said.
Welch, 24, has appeared in five NHL games, recording a goal and three assists. He was the Penguins second round pick in the 2001 draft.
Welch was promoted after forward Ryan Malone broke his arm in a scuffle Saturday during the Penguins 5-3 victory over Columbus.
