Sewickley Heights' Tim Wiebe is going to be watching tomorrow's Steelers-Falcons with a few guys -- including ex-Steelers Jack Ham and Mike Tomzcak as well as ex-Falcon Jamal Anderson.
Mr. Wiebe was the high-bidder in Miller Lite's charity auction to host these special guests, who'll also be bringing drinks and snacks to his home, where they'll debate the game and "Man Law" with several of his buddies.
The full amount of his winning bid on the eBay auction -- $3,300 -- will go to the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
Mr. Wiebe, who owns National Rehabilitation Equipment, was in the news in 2004 for giving $10,000 to ailing David Williams so he could travel Athens to watch his Beaver County-born daughter, Lauryn, run in the Olympics. Mr. Wiebe, himself a cancer survivor who supports many charitable causes, actually knows Mr. Ham and several other former Steelers, but says, "We'll have a lot of fun." He plans to host dozens of friends at the Sewickley Heights Golf Club.
Miller Lite's NFL promotion (limited to bidders who live within 75 miles of either team playing that week) continues throughout the NFL season, culminating in Week 17, when you can bid to watch the Steelers-Bengals game with L.C. Greenwood, Isaac Curtis and Pete Johnson. For details, visit www.ebay.com/millerlite.
