Corey Campbell from Chartiers Valley High School took the grand prize in a competition for student filmmakers last night with his entry called "Redd Up."
In a ceremony at the Carnegie Science Center, Campbell won $1,000, a digital video camera and case, Pittsburgh Filmmakers' class, director's chair, SciTech Spectacular and Three Rivers Film Festival tickets and a school trophy.
Other awards, which carry prizes of varying amounts:
Silver: "The Restoration of Nine Mile Run" by Samantha Pollack, Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts High School.
Bronze: "Green Is the Word: A Pittsburgh Revolution" by Vikram Kedar, Shady Side Academy.
Honorable mentions: "Danger on the Yough," Megan Hampshire, Sarah Rudy and Matthew Steiner, Yough High School; "Living With Sasquatch," Bill O'Toole and Chris Amick, Mt. Lebanon High School; and "Water Pollution: Our Future," Nick Childers, Pittsburgh CAPA.
The competition is the SciTech Spectacular C.A.U.S.E. Challenge by Bayer Corp., in sponsorship with Pittsburgh Filmmakers.
