Good news for vinyl junkies: No one wanted to buy Jerry Webber's store.
That means Webber and Jerry's Records will stay right where they are, in streamlined fashion, above New Dumpling House, at 2136 Murray Ave., Squirrel Hill.
Webber is scaling down the inventory with a sale of 331/3 percent off all records. Then on Jan. 1, Jerry's will be joined in an entertainment co-op by video store Heads Together, which will move across the street, and Dave's Music Mine, spinning off a satellite of its South Side CD store.
Webber announced in the spring that he was putting the 30-year-old business, which has been in its current location for 12 years, on the market because of the high overhead.
The overwhelming response, he says, was "Jerry, you can't close!"
When he couldn't find a buyer he decided on Plan B, which was to share the space with like-minded businesses. Jerry's and Heads Together will remain open throughout the transition.
"We're streamlining the store and going vertical on some sections that people never look at," Webber says.
Like?
"Oh, ethnic music, classical -- unfortunately -- Broadway show tunes, spoken word, country. It's never been a country town."
