PG East: Kiski grad catching on

Kiski Area graduate Luke Duriancik is the top receiver at Geneva College.

Duriancik, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound sophomore, caught seven passes for 68 yards in Saturday's 9-7 win over Seton Hill.

Duriancik has 19 catches for 343 yards in four games, including a school-record 98-yard touchdown reception in Week 2 against Olivet Nazarene.

Last year as a freshman, he caught 22 passes for 274 yards and one touchdown.

Pitt runner Bairs down

Shaler Area graduate Sam Bair ran his first race of the season for the Pitt men's cross country team on Sept. 29.

Bair, a junior, finished eighth at the Paul Short Invitational, which took place at Lehigh University, with a time of 24:32.00.

Bair placed 12th in the Big East Conference and ninth at the NCAA Regionals last year.

Norwin grad gets PSAC honor

Norwin graduate Justin Moose was named PSAC Golf Athlete of the Week for his performance in two recent tournaments at Clarion University.

Moose had two solid outings to lead Clarion to first- and second-place finishes in consecutive tournaments.

In the two-day Wheeling Jesuit Tournament, he carded a 1-over 141, including an event-best 67 on the second day, which hoisted Clarion to the top spot in the 13-team field.

Six days later he shot a 77 at the Westminster Invitational, which tied for seventh overall among 60 golfers. The Golden Eagles finished second of in the 10-team field.

Killer performance for QV grad

Quaker Valley graduate Janette Schneider recorded a match-high 20 kills to lead Robert Morris University in its 3-1 win over West Virginia.

Schneider is a 6-2 senior middle blocker has recorded 180 kills (3.0 per game) and 63 blocks (1.05 per game) for the season.
