Erie area: As of last night, the Lake Erie tributaries had returned to normal following recent rains, and the lake also was calming down. Fresh runs of steelhead have been coming into the streams for two weeks. On days when anglers can get onto the lake, they have been catching perch in 40 to 60 feet of water.

Allegheny Reservoir/Allegheny River (Warren County): Perch are picking up in the lake and walleyes are hitting in the lake in 4 to 12 feet and in the outflow of the dam. Northern pike up to 32 inches are hitting at "the point" in Warren and at the confluence of Conewango Creek. The river was a little high yesterday but the water behind the refinery was yielding pike, walleyes, bass and a few crappies. Brown trout are hitting in the lake around Roper Hollow and in the river from Glade Bridge to the outflow of the dam.

Lake Arthur (Butler County): Good perch fishing is reported, with anglers catching mixed sizes, including some 10 to 12 inches.

Lake Wilhelm (Mercer County): Anglers are starting to pick up nice perch on minnows and crawlers in 10 feet across from Launch No. 4. Mixed sizes of crappies and bluegills are hitting around the Sheakleyville Bridge. Larry Gruneler of Pittsburgh caught a 16-inch crappie Monday.

Shenango Reservoir (Mercer County): Crappies are hitting on minnows all over the lake. Hybrid stripers are being caught by anglers trolling toward the causeway at Route 846 and on the west end of the lake in the 9.9 horsepower area. A few walleyes, including some sub-legals, are reported. The bass bite has slowed. Water levels remain high.

Lake Tamarack (Crawford County): Bob Lutz of Ellwood City released 11 muskies, 32 to 46 inches, on a home made minnow-type Balsa wood bait, this week.

Allegheny River: Nick Lyle of Freeport and Dan Lyle of Kittanning won Saturday's Keystone Bass Buddy Circuit tournament with a 10-fish total of 17.38 pounds. Keith Kleespies and Barry Clapperton caught the lunker, a 4.27 pound smallmouth. Two smallmouths of more than 4 pounds were caught in the tournament, with anglers fishing all three rivers. Jay Hughes landed five walleyes, 21 to 27 inches, at the Highland Park Dam Sunday. Nice size saugers, walleyes and smallmouths are hitting at Lock No. 3. A 40-inch flathead was released Tuesday. The Venture Outdoors Downtown TriAnglers report that the good bite continues along the North Shore in front of PNC Park. Highlights include a 15.5-inch smallmouth bass released by Bill Vincent of Ellwood City, a 21-inch smallmouth buffalo released by John Force of the North Side, a 19-inch channel catfish released by Frank McCormick of McKees Rocks and an 18.5-inch freshwater drum released by Marty Sanders of Overbrook. Mike Kirshenbaum of Squirrel Hill landed a 16-inch smallmouth bass and a 20-inch freshwater drum on crawlers at the outflow at Point State Park.

Ohio River/Montour Run: Walleyes up to 23 inches are hitting around the mouth of Montour Run. Paul Indrihovic of Forest Grove landed seven rainbow trout up to 15 inches on Montour Run around the bridge at Forest Grove Sportsmen's Center following last week's stocking. John Force of the North Side reports catching a variety of fish, including a 37-inch flathead.
