Polar bears are back at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, and National City is providing the opportunity to name them. Visit the Web site, www.nationalcity.com/polarbear and complete a contest form, or stop by any National City branch and pick up a form. Two names for each entry will be accepted, one for each of the bears. All entries must be received by Nov. 10.
Kolbrener Inc. has a strategic partnership with Innervation to produce and promote The Executive Experience, learning programs that bring together leading speakers and small groups of executives at the Belizean Dreams resort in Belize. Kolbrener is handling all marketing strategy and implementation for The Executive Experience, which kicks off in December with a session based on the business best seller "Blue Ocean Strategy."
GVA Oxford and The Zambrano Corp. celebrated the groundbreaking of Park Place at Chapel Harbor, a three-story, 31,000-plus-square foot office building in the master planned, mixed use development of Chapel Harbor. The state-of-the-art building will feature 10,000-square-foot floor plates, and an attractive brick exterior with free parking in an upscale riverfront/park setting. Occupancy is set for May. The two new tenants who are set to occupy part of the building are Tri-State Orthopaedics that leased 6,300 square feet on the third floor and UPMC Centers for Rehab, which leased 8,211 square feet on the second floor. Edward P. Doran and Jim Jarrett of GVA Oxford represented the owners, Zambrano Corp.
Penn State University has leased about 2,100 square feet in the newly renovated Liberty Center retail corridor for its Community Recruitment Center and the establishment of a Continuing Education Office, according to J.R. Yocco of Grant Street Associates, who represented the university. Jack O'Donoghue and Michele Goetz of Grant Street Associates represented the landlord, Liberty Center Venture. Penn State is moving its Pittsburgh Community Recruitment Center to Downtown from Point Breeze.
Contracts
Innovate E-Commerce Inc. was selected by Primo Water Corp. to provide EDI (electronic data interchange) services between Primo Water and its growing list of retail customers. Primo, headquartered in Winston-Salem, N.C., is the only national brand of purified and mineral-enhanced bottled water available through a retail exchange program.
Grants/loans
The Early Learning Institute was awarded a $5,000 grant from the William V. and Catherine A. McKinney Foundation. The funds will be used to enhance the learning environment at the Institute's Ohio Valley preschool center in Coraopolis, specifically for the replacement of the carpet. The private William V. and Catherine A. McKinney Foundation is managed by National City Bank's Private Client Group. The Early Learning Institute, formerly St. Peter's Child Development Centers, has been serving infants and preschoolers with disabilities since 1958.
