Or not.
McClatchy, the Pirates' chief executive officer and managing general partner, cited two factors for delaying some kind of pronouncement.
Today is Yom Kippur.
"Not all my staff's in," he said.
Plus, the Pirates will have their company softball game tomorrow.
"I haven't worried about it too much," McClatchy said of making his plans known. "Wednesday, I'll probably say something."
But if McClatchy is staying with the organization, why say anything?
"Maybe I won't say anything," he said. "I haven't worried about it too much."
McClatchy emphasized whatever he does or doesn't do is his decision. He is not being fired, he said.
And, he said, whatever decision has been made was made before the All-Star break.
"As I said before the All-Star Game -- when various media people were saying I was going to get fired and they wanted to make it a big story -- I'd talk about it at the end of the season," McClatchy said. "I'll stick with that."
If McClatchy's decision were made before the All-Star break, then it seems the Pirates' improvement on the field did not influence his decision.
"I'll talk about all that," he said. "You never say never [that] it has nothing to do with it."
