Thomas Jefferson came into last night's Big Seven Conference showdown against Keystone Oaks with the most potent offense in Class AAA, but defense is what led the top-ranked Jaguars to a 14-0 victory.

Thomas Jefferson (5-0, 2-0) held Keystone Oaks (3-2, 2-1) to four first downs and 112 yards in total offense, en route to its fourth shutout of the season. Dom DeCicco ran 4 yards for one Jaguars touchdown and connected with Chris Drager on a 13-yard scoring pass for the other. Nate Bota rushed for 134 yards on 13 carries for the Jaguars.

OTHER GAMES

Pine-Richland 43, Indiana 19

Vince Veltre rushed for 140 yards on 27 carries and scored on runs of 7 and 26 yards to lead the No. 3 Rams (5-0, 3-0) to a convincing Greater Allegheny Conference victory. Indiana (3-2, 1-2) was led by Jason Snyder, who rushed for 102 yards and three scores.

Trinity 28, West Miflin 7

Hiller tailback Troy Garove rushed for 265 yards on 26 carries to increase his season total to 1,007 yards. Garove scored on runs of 19, 33, 60 and 5 yards, as No. 4 Trinity (4-1, 2-0) remained unbeaten in the Big Seven Conference. West Mifflin (2-3, 1-2) scored on a 1-yard sneak by Leon Green.

Moon 18, Montour 9

Michael Battles rushed for 135 yards and Ryan Falvo threw for 102 yards, as Moon (4-1, 2-0) remained unbeaten in the Parkway Conference. Battles carried the ball 22 times and scored on a 6-yard run. Falbo completed 8 of 15 passes for 102.

Montour (1-4, 0-3) scored on a 40-yard field goal by Aaron Hassett and a 9-yard pass from EJ Banks to Gianni Ricci.

Ambridge 26, New Castle 13

Dana Jones rushed for 140 yards on 24 carries and scored on a 20-yard run to lead Ambridge (2-3, 1-2) to a Parkway Conference victory against New Castle (2-3, 1-2). David Duke completed 7 of 14 passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns for the Bridgers.

Highlands 42, Greensburg Salem 0

John Duffey returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, then caught touchdown passes of 45 and 5 yards from Jim Nagle, as Highlands (5-0, 2-0) remained unbeaten in the Greater Allegheny Conference with this win against Greensburg Salem (1-4, 0-3).

Hampton 7, Knoch 0

The Talbots (2-3, 1-1) scored seven points for the second consecutive week in the Greater Allegheny Conference, but didn't need more as the defense pitched a shutout, allowing Knoch (2-3, 1-2) only 67 yards in total offense. Jeff Cully provided the winning touchdown with a 25-yard scoring pass to Joe Cangilla.

Peters Twp. 34, Elizabeth Forward 0

Nick Fazio rushed for 204 yards on 33 carries and scored on runs of 2, 29 and 5 yards to lead Peters Township (2-3, 1-2) to its first Big Seven Conference victory. The Indians also scored on a 10-yard pass from Tyler Porco to John Matthis, and a 5-yard run by Joe Smith. Porco completed 9 of 15 passes for 111 yards.

Belle Vernon 6, Laurel Highlands 3

The Leopards (2-3, 1-1) scored on a 1-yard run by Brian Layhue in the first quarter. Laurel Highlands (2-3, 2-1) scored its only points on a 37-yard field goal by Alex Russell in this Keystone Conference game.

Ringgold 27, Albert Gallatin 14

The Rams (1-4, 1-2) come up with two big plays in this Keystone Conference win against Albert Gallatin (2-3, 2-1). Jake Spaziani ran 81 yards for a score with a fumble recovery, while Syler Carter ran 65 yards for another.

Uniontown 34, Derry 3

Doug Sanner completed 16 of 27 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Red Raiders in this Keystone Conference win against Derry (0-5, 0-3).

Hopewell 33, Chartiers Valley 14

Ryan Levinger completed 8 of 11 passes for 170 yards and connected with Josh Meyers on a 55-yard scoring pass to lead the No. 5 Vikings (4-1) in a non-conference win against Chartiers Valley (2-3).

Franklin Regional 34, Mount Pleasant 7

Lee Howatneck rushed for 185 yards on 24 carries and scored on runs of 1 and 55 yards for the Panthers (4-1), while teammate Anthony Vendemia completed 7 of 10 passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns. Mount Pleasant (2-3) scored its only touchdown on a 1-yard run by Jake Hoffer.
