Penguins center Evgeni Malkin does not need surgery to repair his dislocated left shoulder. The rookie from Russia was examined by a doctor for the second time Monday and surgery was ruled out.
Malkin, 20, was injured Wednesday night when he collided with teammate John LeClair during an exhibition game in Moncton, New Brunswick.
There is no timetable for his return, however, surgery would have meant a much longer recovery period.
