A stifling Robert Morris defense set school records and posted its first shutout since 2002 as the Colonials defeated the visiting Rowan Profs, 21-0, at Joe Walton Stadium yesterday.
Robert Morris (2-2) held Rowan (1-1), ranked No. 3 in Division III, to minus-44 yards rushing and minus-19 total yards.
Ray Gensler, a senior defensive lineman from Keystone Oaks, had 41/2 sacks to give him nine for the season and 17 for his career, which ties the school record.
Rowan's only first down came on Davon Edwards' 12-yard run on the first play of the second half.
Robert Morris took advantage of two fumble recoveries on punts to score both its touchdowns, Erik Cwalinski's 2-yard run in the first quarter and Kevin Drakeford's 1-yard run in the third quarter. The other touchdown came on Mario Hines' 48-yard punt return.
Cwalinski completed 13 of 24 passes for 112 yards. He was intercepted once and sacked five times. Brian Harden carried 14 times for a team-high 38 yards.
