The Harwood J. Cranston Co. moved to the Vista Industrial Park in Robinson on Sept. 1, after almost 50 years at the same location in Sewickley. In addition, the company changed its name to Cranston Material Handling Equipment Corp.
Contracts
Burns & Scalo Roofing announced the roofing contract award for Federated Tower, Pittsburgh, by roof consultant The Brown Co., and owner of Forest City Enterprises. The project includes installation of 15,552 square feet of the EPDM roof system, plus minor repairs on four other roof levels. The company also was awarded a contract from P.J. Dick Corp. for a modified roof systems for The Upper Room senior residential apartment buildings.
The new Midfield Terminal Complex at Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, Fla., was recently honored as the Airport Project of the Year by the Florida Department of Transportation. Dick Corp. served as the general contractor for the construction of the 762,000-square-foot complex and a remote chiller plant. The terminal complex contains 28 aircraft gates along three concourses.
Lava New Media, based in Carnegie Office Park, was retained by The Children's Institute to redesign its Web site. The new design will include enhanced features for Web visitors and particularly for patient families. Lava already has re-tooled the donor section of the existing site.
ATS-Chester Engineers was awarded a contract by the Water and Sewerage Corp. of the Bahamas to provide engineering and planning services for a regional wastewater and sewage treatment facility serving the central portion of the Island of New Providence, including new housing developments and the incoming $1.6 billion Baha Mar mega-resort.
Dividends
Commonwealth Financial Corp. declared a third-quarter dividend of 17 cents per share, payable Oct. 13 to shareholders of record Sept. 29.
Awards/Honors
Wayne M. Chiurazzi, of Chiurazzi and Mengine LLC, was elected to the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County. Chiurazzi concentrates on small business representation, litigation involving individuals and corporate entities as well as landlord and tenant, workers compensation, and employment matters.
Ken Smith, president of H. B. Maynard and Co. Inc. was recognized with the 2006 Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) Fellow Award and the 2006 Grove City College Alumni Achievement Award. The IIE Fellow Award recognizes distinguished service and leadership qualities and is the highest classification of membership in the IIE, recognizing outstanding leaders of the profession that have made significant, nationally recognized contributions to the industrial engineering profession. The Alumni Achievement Awards annually recognize alumni who have made significant contributions to their fields of endeavor and to society.
