The Post-Gazette and Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh invite you to take part in a monthly book club for early readers and teens. After today's debut, MY GEN will introduce two books with similar themes, for ages 8-12 and 12-18, chosen by the library's childern's staff, on the first Tuesday of each month. One pick will be a focus book, the other will be a highlight book. There will be excerpts, author interviews and tips on writing reviews. The MY GEN Book Club invites reviews of the books from all readers. On the last Tuesday of the month, some reader reviews and comments will appear in print, others will appear online at www.post-gazette.com/books. First up: With themes of back-to-school and rebellious spirits, the books are "Stargirl" by Jerry Spinelli and "Frindle" by Andrew Clement.
