The data: Penguins Rookie Camp facts

What: Phase 1 of the Penguins' training camp.

When: Friday-Sunday.

Where: Mellon Arena.

Schedule: There will be two 50-minute sessions on the ice each day, with one group going on at 9 a.m. and the other at 11:30. Practices are open to the public.

The 'games': The two practice squads will scrimmage each day at 10 a.m.

If you go: Fans attending the workouts should enter through Gate 1. Some concession stands will be open and, while regular weekday parking rates in the Mellon Arena lots will apply Friday, parking will be free in those lots Saturday and Sunday.

Of note: After Sunday's practice, the Penguins will fly to Moncton, New Brunswick to kick off three-plus days in the Canadian Maritimes. They will return home for an exhibition game against Washington Sept. 22 before hitting the road again for two preseason games in Ontario and a team-building stint at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
