Local business and political leaders this morning unveiled a new 3-year, $3 million marketing campaign aimed at showcasing the region's assets and attractions to outsiders -- and, in the process, making area residents feel better about themselves and where they live, too.
"Pittsburgh. Imagine what you can do here,'' is the catch-line for the campaign, which will feature print and online ads in both local and national media. It is being funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Community Development and the Allegheny Conference on Community Development through a combination of corporate and foundation funding.
"The Pittsburgh region has a long history of innovation that has made an impact around the world -- from the polio vaccine and organ transplants to robotics and green building design,'' said Jim Rohr, chairman and chief executive officer of PNC Financial Services Group and chairman of both the Allegheny Conference and the Pittsburgh 250 Commission, formed to oversee activities commemorating of the city's 250th birthday in 2008.
"As we approach our 250th anniversary, we have an opportunity to celebrate our heritage and highlight the assets that make our region one of the best places in the world to live, work, visit and invest," he said.
