Traffic delays in Monroeville expected due to cop's funeral
Friday, September 08, 2006

Traffic delays are expected today in Monroeville because of funeral services for Cleveland Police Detective Jonathan Schroeder.

Detective Schroeder, a Penn Hills native, was killed in the line of duty Aug. 30 in Cleveland. The veteran police officer was trying to arrest a rape suspect, but was killed by a bullet that struck him in a small area under his arm not protected by his bulletproof vest, police officials said.

Services will take place at Gene H. Corl Funeral Center, 4335 Northern Pike, Monroeville, beginning at 11 a.m.

Residents and visitors are advised the funeral procession could last up to two hours and cause lengthy delays in the area of Northern Pike/Monroeville Boulevard. Those needing to access businesses or professional services in this area should use Business Route 22 or Route 130 as alternatives.
