The farewell began with a horse-drawn hearse carrying the mayor's body to St. Paul Cathedral in Oakland, where his widow Judy delivered an unscheduled eulogy. The day concluded with a motorcade through city neighborhoods to Calvary Cemetery, where the family asked for -- and received -- privacy for a final graveside service.
