JULES CROSBY

SCHOOL: Sto-Rox

WHO IS HE? A senior quarterback-defensive back who started the season with a big performance.

LAST WEEK: Crosby completed 11 of 24 passes for 281 yards and four touchdowns as Sto-Rox surprised Center, 34-14. Center was expected to be one of the top teams in the Midwestern Conference.

CAREER: Crosby saw playing time at quarterback as a sophomore. Last year, he was 72 of 142 for 1,001 yards. The Vikings are throwing more this season.

"Our coach [Jason Ruscitto] has a wide open offense," Crosby said. "We're running a lot of three- and four-receiver sets."

SMALL TALK: Crosby is only 5 feet 9, 180 pounds, which is small for a quarterback on the high school level. "What makes Jules good is his intangibles," Ruscitto said. "He has a lot of football savvy. Plus, he works extremely hard. I don't think he missed one weightlifting session this offseason."

NAME CALLING: Many people ask Crosby if his first name is short for something. "My dad gave me the name," Crosby said. "It doesn't matter. It's just a name."

WELL-KNOWN COUSIN: Kevan Barlow, former Pitt running back now with the New York Jets, is Crosby's cousin.

THROWING TO DiMICH-ELES: Former Sto-Rox players Alex and Adam DiMichele are at Temple and in the starting lineup. Adam is the starting QB and Alex, a walk-on, is the starting fullback. The Di-Micheles' younger brothers are two of Crosby's top receivers. Anthony DiMichele, a senior, had two touchdown receptions against Center and also intercepted two passes. Nico DiMichele, a sophomore, caught one touchdown pass.

RACHEL ROHANNA

SCHOOL: Waynesburg.

WHO IS SHE? The reigning WPIAL girls' golf champion. A freshman last year, she also shared the PIAA title with three other players.

PAST WEEK: Rohanna has helped lead Waynesburg to a 3-0 start in Division II, Section 8. This is the Waynesburg boys' team; the school does not have a girls' squad.

FAMILY LINKS: Rachel's uncle, Randy, owns Rohanna's Golf Course outside Waynesburg. "I play there every day pretty much," Rachel said. Her maternal grandfather, Dick Schwartz, is the head professional at East Liverpool (Ohio) Country Club and her maternal grandmother, Roseann Schwartz, is the women's coach at Youngstown State University.

Tommy Rohanna, Rachel's brother, is on the Waynesburg College team.

SHE'S GOT GAME: Garber and his No. 2 player disagree on what she does best. Garber said accuracy is her forte, while Rohanna said "it has always been my driving." They are in accord on her major weakness. "I've never been that great at putting," said Rohanna. "She's not a bad putter, but it's an area where she has to continually work," Garber said.

OTHER SPORT: Rohanna was the starting second baseman and backup pitcher for the Waynesburg softball team last spring. She helped the Raiders (16-4) reach the WPIAL Class AA semifinals and PIAA first round.

FUTURE: Golf courses or academic courses, Rohanna is an ace. She has a 4.0 grade point average. "But what I really want to be is a touring professional."
