Teachers in the Wilkinsburg School District have reached a contract agreement that includes a 4 percent salary increase this year and every year until it expires in August 2011.
There will be no change in the teachers' health care plan this year, but starting next school year, the district will take $10 a month out of teacher paychecks for individual health insurance coverage and $20 a month for family coverage.
The health coverage deductions also will apply to administrators on the plan, said Maria Lauro, the district's public information officer.
The school district and members of the Wilkinsburg Education Association signed the agreement just in time for the first day of school.
