"A Nightmare on Elm Street," in which a very young Johnny Depp goes out in a blaze of blood, will return to select screens for two nights later this month. It's part of a promotion for a new, special-edition DVD of the horror film, coming out Sept. 26.
Cinemark's theater at Pittsburgh Mills mall in Frazer is among the locations participating in the Sept. 20 and 21 promotion. In addition to the movie featuring Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger, theaters will show "Freddy's Best Kills," a montage of gruesome deaths from the franchise films.
In the first "Nightmare" in 1984, Depp and a portable TV balanced on his legs get swallowed by his bed. A veritable volcano of the red stuff erupts, but only after he utters this understatement to the cops: "Look, we have reason to believe there might be something strange going on here."
Tickets are available at www. BigScreenBoxOffice.com or participating theater box offices for $10. See that site for a full list of theaters.
