NFL Notebook: Owens' noted debut in the stars for Dallas?
Thursday, August 31, 2006

Get your popcorn ready: Terrell Owens could make his highly anticipated debut for the Dallas Cowboys against the Minnesota Vikings tonight.

Owens went through his second consecutive practice yesterday morning after a 10-day layoff caused by a tender left hamstring. Although he was limited in both workouts, trainers pushed him hard earlier in the week -- and he has emerged from it all feeling good enough to possibly be involved in the preseason finale.

"That'll be up to him," coach Bill Parcells said. "If he feels like he wants to get some plays, then we'll think about it. If not, we won't."

Titans

Tennessee might dodge the question of who its starting quarterback is by giving rookie Vince Young the start in its final exhibition game against Green Bay tomorrow. The Titans are stuck in a situation where Billy Volek, chosen as the starter when Steve McNair was traded, now has competition after the team signed 11-year veteran Kerry Collins Monday. Volek isn't happy with the move.

Bengals

Carson Palmer reported no problems with his surgically rebuilt left knee, another indication the quarterback will be ready for the season opener. Palmer threw three touchdowns Monday night in a triumphant return from his knee surgery. After the team's day off, Palmer returned to practice and got ready to play in the Bengals' final preseason game tomorrow night in Indianapolis.

Buccaneers

Jay Fiedler's bid to make Tampa Bay ended before the injured quarterback could even get on the field. The Buccaneerss released the former Miami Dolphins and New York Jets quarterback and signed offensive tackle Cornell Green.

Eagles

Two longtime players are out and one is returning to the nest after a two-year hiatus. Philadelphia released quarterback Koy Detmer and receiver Todd Pinkston and re-signed quarterback A.J. Feeley.
