Pittsburgh Mayor Bob O'Connor was in stable condition yesterday in the intensive care unit at UPMC Shadyside.
His medical team at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center reported that his symptoms continue to improve after undergoing a second course of whole-brain radiation treatment Friday afternoon.
Mr. O'Connor, who is being treated for primary nervous system T-cell lymphoma, will undergo more radiation treatment tomorrow.
In a related matter, the Hope Chapel, a congregation in the city's West End, plans to hold an hour-long public prayer service for the mayor beginning at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the portico of the City-County Building on Grant Street.
"Prayer is another weapon in his artillery,'' the church said in statement yesterday.
