RMU unveils new logo; new mascot is next
Friday, August 11, 2006

Robert Morris University yesterday unveiled a new athletics logo to be used and worn by the school's 23 Division I teams.

"When I came here in 1993, a logo was not a top priority," said football coach Joe Walton, who represented the university's coaches. "This is a great day for RMU athletics."

The new logo shows the head of a Colonial above the Robert Morris wordmark. The colors are blue, red and gray.

The new logo was designed by Rickabaugh Graphics of Columbus, Ohio. Its debut yesterday was the culmination of a process that began in November. Marty Galosi, the school's assistant athletic director, was point person on the project.

"This gives RMU athletics a new face, a new identity," Robert Morris president Greg Dell'Omo said.

Athletic director Craig Coleman said the new logo emphasizes "intensity" and that the program is "forward looking."

Robert Morris also will debut a new mascot at the Colonials' football home opener Sept. 9 against Duquesne.
