A man riding his horse through Downtown during rush hour yesterday was stopped by city police because he did not posses a proper permit.

Police said the man, whose name was not released, was from Montana and was riding on Liberty Avenue. The man said he was riding the horse across the country for a religious cause.

Police did not issue him a ticket, but escorted the rider back to his trailer parked on the North Side. The man told police that this was the first time he has experienced any problems riding through a metropolitan area.
