They queued quietly at the entrances to the Steelers' practice fields at St. Vincent College, awaiting the chance to see Super Bowl veterans and promising rookies.
Jenny Dubich of Greensburg, moonlighting from her studies at Lock Haven University to be a training camp security guard, quizzed the crowd to help pass the time.
Jessie and Scott Fisher brought their 4-year-old son, Dakota, to see the Steelers. They wrote his name on a banner to help preserve the memory.
Women from the Pittsburgh Steelers Fan Club of Baltimore packed up member Karlene Staley's 3-foot-tall Hines Ward bobblehead for the journey to Latrobe. Pat Lawson and her daughter Becca carefully transported bobblehead Hines across Maryland and Pennsylvania in a van. Mrs. Lawson described the bobblehead as the perfect passenger. "He never complained and didn't ask for potty breaks," she said.
