A pair of dogs took a truck on a wild ride in Fayette County Tuesday.
State police in Belle Vernon said the dogs, identified as the operators of a 1989 Mitsubishi truck on School Street in Republic, were inside the cab when another pooch passed by.
The dogs inside the truck started to "carry on," police said, and knocked the gear shift out of park.
"Yeah, Buck and Bubba, operator one and two," said Ed Hazelwood of New Salem, owner of the two peek-a-poos, which is a cross between a Pekingese and a poodle.
"They decided to take the truck for a spin. The lady was coming by walking her dog. My dogs got all hyper. They decided they gonna put it in drive and follow the dog down the road."
The truck headed down School Street, struck a pole, went through a fence and crashed into a house about 200 yards away on Clover Street, rupturing a gas line.
"The canines were no worse for wear. They did not get injured from their wild ride," Trooper Dave Hamer wrote in his report.
"Thank God everybody's OK, said Mr. Hazelwood.
