Family Film Guide: 'The Devil Wears Prada' and 'Wordplay'

The Post-Gazette reviews movies from a family perspective:

'The Devil Wears Prada'

Rated: PG-13.

Suitable for: Mature tweens, teens and up.

What you should know: This is an adaptation of the popular book of the same name. It stars Anne Hathaway, a tween favorite from "The Princess Diaries," as a recent college grad working as an assistant to a demanding fashion magazine editor, played by Meryl Streep.

Language: Barely a handful of mild expletives or words.

Sexual situations and nudity: Couples kiss. A woman wakes up in a strange bed after spending a night with a man, who wanders around with his chest bare and a towel around his waist.

Violence/scary situations: A person is struck by a car and lands in the hospital.

Drug and alcohol use: Adults drink beer, wine and cocktails.

'Wordplay'

Rated: PG.

Suitable for: Tweens and above.

What you should know: This is a terrific way to introduce your youngsters to crossword puzzles and other brain teasers. It features puzzle gurus, such as Will Shortz from The New York Times, and players, including former President Clinton, "The Daily Show" host Jon Stewart, Yankees pitcher Mike Mussina and regular folks.

Language: None.

Sexual situations and nudity: Two gay men are shown kissing, very briefly.

Violence/scary situations: None. A woman, however, mentions her husband's death many years earlier.

Drug and alcohol use: None, although some beer paraphernalia decorates a college student's room.
