Birdies & Bogeys: 6/28/06
The ups and downs, the highs and lows, in the world of golf
Wednesday, June 28, 2006

Birdies: John Harris, a longtime amateur champion who won the 1993 U.S. Amateur, won his first title as a professional when he beat Tom Jenkins in a playoff at the Champions Tour's Commerce Bank Championship. Don't know what's better for Harris -- getting to collect a winner's check or being an Augusta National member.

Bogeys: NBC Sports, despite all its cameras, even one in the blimp, could not track Phil Mickelson's second shot at the final hole of the U.S. Open -- the ill-attempted shot that hit a tree and ultimately cost him his third major in a row. Nobody watching on television knew what happened. Shortly thereafter, neither did Mickelson.
