People on the Move
|
![]() Mary L. Cardin Job: Vice president & co-owner of Supportive Solutions Inc. Age: The big 50! Ambitions: To continue growing Supportive Solutions on a national level, then move to the Southwest and open a branch office there. First job: Veterinarian assistant. Hardest job/why?: Making the decision to leave a high-paying position in Atlanta to start Supportive Solutions (along with my business partner, Tonya Slawinski), and moving from Atlanta to Murrysville in the wintertime. But it has definitely been worth it, and I'm very much enjoying living in the Pittsburgh area. Biggest work challenge ever: Managing and coordinating crisis response services for over 200 companies following the 9/11 tragedy. Favorite stock/mutual fund: Vanguard Funds. Away from work I: like to read, ride on the back of my husband's Harley, and spend time with my family. Dream vacation: Relaxing on the coast of the Mediterranean in Greece. Favorite book: "The Generosity Factor" by S. Truett Cathy, founder of Chick-fil-A; excellent principles that you can apply to both your personal and business life. If I won the Lottery, I'd: first give at least 10 percent or more to several animal rescue agencies, then invest more in Supportive Solutions to continue growing the business, help any family members who might need it, buy a home in the Southwest, and then invest the rest. |
