Keith Jones, the KDKA-TV morning anchor who suffered a broken arm in a single-car accident in April, will return to the air Monday.
Jones was charged with drunken driving, careless driving and driving erratically in the incident. He had a blood alcohol content level of .137. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is .08.
KDKA general manager Chris Pike said he deliberated at length about Jones' future with the station.
"After much reflection and taking into consideration the very serious nature of his actions, we decided, based on the person we believe him to be, to give him a second chance," Pike said. "It is our hope that viewers will do the same."
Pike said much of the reason for Jones' delayed returned to work was due to his medical condition. He was released by his doctor to return to work only recently.
Jones is expected to speak briefly about the accident and offer an apology during the morning news Monday.
