RadarGolf, a new system in which a radio-frequency microchip is embedded in the core of the golf ball, sells for $250 and allows golfers to easily locate their ball in the woods: Wait until the golfing wives figure this out and starting using the system to locate their husbands.

Tiger Woods said he is preparing to play in the U.S. Open, his first tournament since his father, Earl, died May 3: Remember this story line -- the final round of the Open is on Father's Day.

Colin Montgomerie of Scotland has joined the advocates who believe the golf ball needs to be scaled back to curb the high cost of lengthening golf courses to combat technology: Monty has already done a good job of scaling back his waistline.

Jeff Maggert shoots a final-round 65 to win the FedEx St. Jude Classic in Memphis, Tenn., his first PGA Tour victory since 1999 and only his third overall: First Lumpy returns to the winner's circle, now Frumpy.

Gareth Maybin of Northern Ireland wins the inaugural Hooters Tour event at Quicksilver Golf Club, shooting 15-under 273 and bettering by four shots the previous best 72-hole score in a professional tour event at the course: They must have had enlarged cups for this event.

David Howell of England wins the BMW Championship in Virginia Water, England, by five shots to move to No. 10 in the Official World Ranking: America is still waiting for its Howell -- Charles III -- to howl.
