Police increase county park patrols
Thursday, May 25, 2006

Allegheny County police have stepped up patrols of a public restroom in South Park that was listed on the Internet as a popular place for gay men to meet for sexual encounters.

The restroom at Corrigan Drive and Brownsville Road is across from a children's playground and next to a small theater.

County police Superintendent Charles Moffatt said police are monitoring it and other sites throughout the county that are listed on certain Web sites as popular places for sexual encounters.

"We hope to make some arrests," Superintendent Moffatt said. Last year, he said, county police "made quite a few arrests" at Boyce Park in Monroeville after learning about illicit sexual activity going on in that park.
