Museums plan Wild Wednesday Nights
Sunday, May 21, 2006

Wild Wednesday Nights are invading the Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History this summer. In conjunction with the "Fierce Friends" and other exhibitions, these programs, 4 to 9 p.m., will have $5 admission after 4 p.m., with "light bites" and a cash bar. Galleries and stores will remain open until 9 p.m.

The programs

June 28 -- "As the Crow Flies: Literary Reading." Actor/director John Carosella reads excerpts from Jules Verne's "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Lost World" and other adult literary classics inspired by animals.

July 19 -- Pet Adoption Day. The Humane Society, the Animal Rescue League and Animal Friends will bring pets and such in need of homes. Learn about how to care for animals and how to volunteer for these organizations.

Aug. 2 -- "Evolving Perspectives on Animals and Humans." Hear from experts, including a primate specialist from the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, about the complex relationships between animals and humans.
