Dr. Mary Carrasco, director of A Child's Place at Mercy Hospital, has received two honors.

The Women's Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh gave her the Ted Craig Humanitarian Award, which is for service to battered women.

In addition, Sen. Jane Orie, R-McCandless, gave the doctor a senatorial citation for her work to protect women and children in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Carrasco established A Child's Place to evaluate and treat abused and neglected children. She is renowned for her work with sexual assault victims.
