Joey Porter has a gripe to pick with his head coach and the president of the United States and, as usual, he isn't bashful to speak his mind.
First, the Steelers' linebacker wants to talk with George Bush when the team visits the White House June 2.
"Yeah, I got something to say to Bush, I'm going to have a swagger when I walk in there, too," Porter said, laughing loudly. "I'm looking forward to it. I have something to tell him, too. I don't like the way things are running right now. I feel like he has to give me some of my money back, so I got something to tell Bush."
He won't necessarily approach Bill Cowher, but he does disagree with his coach who has said several times that he does not believe the Steelers had the best team in the NFL last year even though they won the Super Bowl.
"Everybody looks at it different, but that's now how I look at it," Porter said. "I feel like we definitely was the best football team."
Porter thought the Steelers should have duplicated their 15-1 record of 2004 last season, that their only real loss came at Indianapolis.
"He probably has a different outlook than I do," Porter said. "That's just my point of view on how I feel. But he's the head coach, he looks at it a whole different way. He breaks down film different ways than I break it down."
Ward seeks support
Hines Ward, who will make a second visit to South Korea in 10 days, also will beat his teammates to the White House.
Ward plans to meet with Bush May 24 along with officials from the United States and South Korea to try to gain support for his Helping Hands Foundation that he hopes to launch in Seoul when he travels there again over the Memorial Day weekend.
"I'm meeting with some of the people in Washington, D.C.," Ward said. "It's going to be awesome."
