Reds 6, Nationals 5: Edwin Encarnacion drove in four runs, and visiting Cincinnati took advantage of Washington starter Billy Traber's wildness to take an early lead, then held on for the victory against the Nationals. The Reds have won six of their last seven to improve to 14-7, their first time seven games over .500 since July 4, 2004. Washington, meanwhile, dropped to 1-6 at home.
Rockies 7, Phillies 6: Clint Barmes homered and drove in two runs and Brad Hawpe added two RBIs, leading visiting Colorado against Philadelphia. The Rockies nearly wasted a six-run lead, but held on for their sixth victory in eight road games. Sal Fasano had two RBI doubles for the Phillies, who dropped to 4-9 at home.
Cubs 3, Marlins 1: Dontrelle Willis lost for the first time in April, with rookie Sean Marshall pitching seven scoreless innings on a cold night to lead host Chicago against Florida. Willis (1-1) allowed 3 runs, 5 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings, striking out 6. He had been 9-0 with a 2.20 ERA in 14 April starts. Willis also began the night 2-0 with a 1.01 ERA in four starts at Wrigley Field.
Brewers 4, Braves 2: Prince Fielder took advantage of an infield shift by Atlanta, singling in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning to lift host Milwaukee to the victory. The Brewers trailed 2-1 going into the sixth, but scored two runs with two outs to take the lead. The Braves are using an infield shift on the left-handed Fielder, moving their shortstop to the right side of second base. But Fielder chopped a 2-1 pitch through a gaping hole into left center field, scoring Lee to give the Brewers a 3-2 lead.

Blue Jays 7, Orioles 3: Vernon Wells doubled home the go-ahead run in four-run seventh inning, backing Gustavo Chacin and leading Toronto against visiting Baltimore. Chacin (4-0), who has won each of his starts this season, allowed three runs and six hits in seven innings. He lowered his ERA from 5.60 to 5.11. Rodrigo Lopez (1-2) gave up four runs, five hits and four walks in six innings.
Yankees 9, Devil Rays 1: Derek Jeter homered and drove in three runs, Mike Mussina had another strong outing and host New York got off to a much better start against Tampa Bay this season with a one-sided victory. Jason Giambi also knocked in three runs to give him eight RBIs in two games. Jeter finished with three hits and scored three times. He has 16 hits in his past 30 at-bats (.533).
Red Sox 8, Indians 6: Manny Ramirez followed an intentional walk to David Ortiz with a tiebreaking, three-run homer in the eighth inning that lifted Boston to the victory against host Cleveland. The score was 5-5 when Kevin Youkilis singled off Guillermo Mota (0-1) with one out in the eighth and stole second. Mark Loretta popped out and Cleveland decided to walk Ortiz, who hit his ninth homer of the year an inning earlier.
Rangers 6, Athletics 5: Hank Blalock's RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth gave Texas a home victory against Oakland. Blalock, who also had a two-run homer, made a winner of Francisco Cordero (3-2), who allowed Oakland to tie the game with two runs in the top of the ninth.
Twins 2, Royals 1: Ruben Sierra and Joe Mauer drove in runs in the eighth inning, as Minnesota rallied past host Kansas City to stop a four-game losing streak. Scott Elarton shut out the Twins on three hits through seven innings, and Lew Ford singled against Luke Hudson (0-2) leading off the eighth.
