Jones Lang LaSalle signed a long-term lease for nearly 23,000 square feet at 525 William Penn Place. Rob Geiger and Scott Astorino of Grant Street Associates, represented the landlord, Mellon Bank N.A., in the transaction. J.C. Pelusi and Dan Adamski, of Jones Lang LaSalle, negotiated the lease.
Name Changes
Law firm Goodrich Goodrich & Lazzara P.C. has changed its name to Goodrich & Goodrich P.C. The change came after former partner Beth A. Lazzara was elected a Common Pleas Court judge.
New Business/New Offices
Next Level Purchasing Inc. moved to 1315 Coraopolis Heights Road, Moon, now its headquarters for management and administration of its Senior Professional in Supply Management Certification. The program has a series of interactive online courses for purchasing professionals.
Contracts
The Community Design Center of Pittsburgh and the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh agreed to a contract for the 2006 Mainstreets Program. The CDCP will provide technical assistance in connection with facade improvements for business district revitalization planning in city neighborhoods, and will offer subsidized design consultations to a limited number of small business owners in Mainstreets Districts.
Burns & Scalo Roofing Co. has a contract for removal of the existing roof system, and the installation a new one at the George Washington Apartment Building, Washington, Pa.
Wabtec Corp.'s Wabtec Railway Electronics unit has been awarded a contract by Union Pacific Railroad to conduct a positive train control pilot program based on its Electronic Train Management System. Work will begin immediately to install and test the Communications Based Train Control system between North Platte and South Morrill, Neb., as well as Spokane, Wash., and Eastport, Idaho.
Grants/loans
Tickets for Kids Foundation has been awarded a grant of $5,000 from the William V. and Catherine A. McKinney Charitable Foundation. The grant supports Tickets for Kids program, Discovering My Neighborhood, designed to enrich the lives of lower-income children and families throughout Greater Pittsburgh by enabling them to be included in our community's outstanding and worthwhile events.
Awards/Honors
Jonathan D. McHugh has been named Young Engineer of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers, Pittsburgh Section. Mr. McHugh is a structural project engineer with Gannett Fleming.
Mike Ference, entrepreneur, business owner, writer and speaker, was recently featured in the March/April issue of Home Business Magazine. The article, "Instant Marketing: Just Add Water," reviews the marketing executive's concept of "Microwaveable Marketing."
The Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber of Commerce presented David Yankaskas with its Ambassador of the Year Award. Mr. Yankaskas, a consultant with The Marketing Fitness Program, was recognized for outstanding volunteer contributions. He's on the chamber's board and co-chairs the 2006 wine & dine committee.
