The sight of the red-and-blue Allegheny Airlines logo on the tail of a newly painted jet recalls halcyon days for embattled US Airways. Before the airline became USAir in 1979 and US Airways in 1997, the two-triangle Allegheny logo was a familiar sight to local travelers.
US Airways returned the Allegheny logo and colors to one of its jets this week as a way of fostering employee loyalty and bringing together disparate cultures as the airline completes its merger with America West Airlines.
